Rita has been running Abitha's Apothecary since she took over from her aunt in 1988. It's about to hit 38 years. The shop is built on formulas—over 1,200 of them—for oils, incense, candles, washes, waters. Everything you'd expect from a place like this, but made with intention and knowledge passed down.
Rita teaches classes every month. Spell jar making. Sabbath history. She's grown up military, moved to ABQ halfway through 9th grade, and the desert became home. The shop became community. They throw a big anniversary event every year—this year was March 22nd, and they take over the parking lot.
They're moving soon to Hoffmantown Plaza, but the mission stays the same.
