Kiki Garcia knew at five years old she wanted to be on the radio. She recorded DJs instead of songs. She started at 14 after meeting a DJ at a school dance. Born in Massachusetts, she moved to ABQ in 1999 and never left.
She's been hosting Magic Mornings with Kiki Garcia on Magic 99.5. Before that, she spent 18 years on The Q. She's been on air in Tucson, Louisiana, Colorado Springs, and small stations all over the country. But ABQ is home.
She met her husband in ABQ—but she fell in love with his two-year-old daughter first. She fell in love with everything here: the mountains, the weather, the sunsets, watching the Sandia Mountains turn pink. She stayed at Tamaya to reflect once, saw a deer and a coyote from her window. The coyotes follow the roads and stop at stop signs.
